Princeton Flea Control
Protect Your Home, Call Greenix Pest Control Today
When people think of fleas, they almost always think of their furry friends. Be it a dog or a cat, fleas tend to make their homes in animal fur due to its protection and great conditions for building a nest. These small creatures are notorious for making our furry friends miserable, causing them unceasing itching that generally only grows and spreads over time. When they inadvertently bring fleas into your home, the problem can quickly spread, and fleas love to take up residence in the grain of carpets, in other pets, and even in other longer-grain fabrics like window treatments and upholstery. Fleas are not a job that can be quickly and easily taken care of, and the job only gets more difficult the longer it is allowed to go on. If your home has been invaded by fleas, you need help from our flea control experts in Princeton.

What You Need to Know About Fleas
While almost everybody knows that fleas exist, few know all that much about them. In fact, they’re one of those issues that you might simply overlook if you don’t know what you are supposed to be looking out for. Fleas are generally extremely small insects, roughly no more than roughly one-eighth of an inch in length (with the majority being even smaller). They are generally dark-colored, wingless, and have distinctive, long back legs. However, it’s these back legs that give fleas their most renowned characteristic: their ability to jump. Fleas have been known to be capable of jumping up to seven inches into the air, with a horizontal length of up to 13 inches per jump. To put that into perspective, that would be the equivalent of an Olympic long-jumper being capable of jumping well over the length of a football field.
We can help with all common types of fleas, including:
- Cat fleas
- Dog fleas
- Sand fleas
Cat fleas and dog fleas are somewhat misnamed. While they are different species of fleas, they don’t exclusively bite either cats or dogs. In fact, both species tend to infect both cats and dogs, as well as a wide range of domestic animals that can include small rodents like rats and mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, and even birds like pigeons or crows. All types of fleas are a particularly nasty problem, as they can subsist for months without food—the blood of their hosts that they latch on to.
