What Does Orem, UT Have to Offer? Visit the UVU Museum of Art

Orem, Utah is known for a lot of things. It's the home of the Utah Valley University, plenty of parks, mountain biking and other outdoor activities, and a great shopping and dining scene. One of the most underrated places in the area, though, is the UVU Museum of Art (formerly known as the Woodbury Art Museum). See what the museum has to offer:

Exhibitions:

With an ongoing rotation of exhibits to explore, there's often something new to see at the UVU Museum of Art. Some past exhibitions featured in the museum included:

Faculty Art Exhibition

This exhibition aimed to inspire and educate viewers through a variety of mediums and approaches to visual art forms.

The Art of Belonging

Aimed to highlight community and culture, this exhibition included lectures, workshops, performances, family activities, and more.

Peripheral Terrains

As you might expect, this exhibition displayed the brilliant work of Alexander Giannell, who plays with topographical landscapes, historical architecture, and more, subverting our understanding of it all.

Permanent Collections:

While there is often a new exhibition to enjoy for those who visit the museum frequently, the permanent collection at the UVU Museum of Art never fails to impress. From photography to paintings, there's much to be explored and appreciated. The collection offers contemporary American works, as well as artists of Utah who have contributed to the culture of the area.

Opportunities for Students:

As a partner of the University of Utah, the museum highlights the importance of on-site education for students pursuing art or art history. Local students get the chance to tour, as well as gain experience in curation and museum management.

Educational Programs:

The UVU Museum of Art offers multiple educational opportunities that are free and open to the public. Choose between Art for All or Open Studio which invites people of all ages to enjoy, or check out the free online activities from the Create Club if you can't find a time that works for your schedule.

Event Rentals:

Looking for a venue? The museum is renting event spaces that are unparalleled in beauty beginning Summer of 2024. They will be offering several packages tailored to fit your needs. It's the perfect place for art junkies and history buffs to come together and celebrate.

Volunteering:

Volunteers are always welcomed at the UVU Museum of Art. All you have to do is fill out a simple application in order to be considered. The museum is all about fostering community in Orem, UT, and hopes to bring people together through shared appreciation for art!
